Bracketology

Hey Sports Nation,

Did you watch the tournament this weekend?! It was crazy...who would have guessed that Arizona is in the Sweet 16, the only double digit team (12). Teams that killed me: Wake Forest losing to Cleveland State (I had them in the Sweet 16) and Florida State losing to Wisconsin (I had them in the Sweet 16 too). Also, to all you that think I hate UConn, I don't. I am a UConn fan, just not a big Hasheem Thabeet fan. How is your bracket looking? All my Elite 8 teams are still in it and I have 14/16 teams still in the Sweet 16 (don't have Arizona or Xavier).

If anyone follows the Womens Tournament, Tennessee lost for the first time in school history in the first round of the tournament. It was a devastating lost for coach Pat Summit, who I think is an incredible coach.

In other news, Japan beat Korea 5-3 in the 10th inning in the World Baseball Classic at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Ichiro Suzuki played great throughout the whole tournament.

Also, how do you think the Jay Cutler situation well end up in Denver? I think he is going to stay with the team, however, there are many other teams interested in trading for him, but new coach Josh McDaniels stated that Jay is their quarterback.

My Sixers keep rolling...huge wins against the Kings and Trailblazers the past 2 nights...T'Wolves tomorrow night!

That's it for now...I hope Dawkins is liking it in Denver and Lito is liking it in NY. My 2 favorites from the Eagles are no longer...I really hope Reid, Banner, management know what they're doing...

March Madness!

Hey Guys,

Selection Sunday!!! As you know (or you should know), the bracketologists finalized the bracket for the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. I really thought Memphis was going to get the last number 1 seed, instead of Connecticut...but they'll beat them in the Elite 8 anyway. I'm also a little ticked that St. Mary's didn't make the tournament...Patty Mills is back and I think they would have been a good sleeper team to pick. Davidson is just upsetting this season too...

I'm not a fan of Hasheem Thabeet for some reason. I don't think he's that good for being 7'3...he's not as good as Yao Ming and NBAdraft.net compares him to Dikembe Mutombo.

Here's a printable bracket for all of you that are looking for one:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/mayhem/brackets/printable_men

My roommates and I do a bracket every year and this year should be another good one. Of course this time, I'm winning.

I'm calling it right now...UNC is going all the way. Mark my word.

(Obama's on their side too!)

Enjoy March and I'll keep you updated with the Madness!

Trade Talk

Hey everyone,

So it's been a while since I've last posted something and I apologize. The NBA trade deadline passed today and there were some interesting ones.

I think Chicago got much stronger by adding Tim Thomas (a 4 who can run the floor), Brad Miller (a good veteran center), and John Salmons (a sg who can score). They need some leadership on the floor and all 3 of these guys are veteran players who will help the Bulls make a push for the playoffs (they are a 1.5 games out of 8th place).

The All-Star game was pretty boring, but little 5'9 Nate Robinson took over the slam dunk throne. He jumped over 7'1 Dwight Howard which was pretty cool...and Howard needs to get a 13-foot rim because he dunked too easily on the 12-foot one.

53% of you chose LeBron James as the MVP for this year, let's see how the second half of the season plays out. That's all for now...I'll write back soon. Keep watching the A-Rod situation too...

Let's Talk Commercials...

Hey Everyone,

I was close, very close, with my Super Bowl prediction (27-21, Steelers), but the final score was 27-23 Steelers win. It was a good game, arguably one of best Super Bowl games. Fitzgerald had that sick catch and touchdown run, but Holmes had that nice catch in the endzone too.

Best Commercials? Worst Commercials?
Check them out at: http://www.hulu.com/superbowl/results

My favs: Pepsi ("forever young"), Bridgestone (Mr./Mrs. Potato Head), Audi (car chase), Teleflora (talking flowers), Doritos (both)
My hates: Bud Light (Conan O'Brien), G0Daddy (both), Castrol Oil (monkey stuff)

Oh, is anyone watching college basketball? Pat Summit almost got her 1,000th win last night against Oklahoma. The mens rankings keep changing constantly...go UNC, Pitt, Wake, and Nova!

Latest headlines:
-Kobe pops 61 against the Knicks at MSG
-Jameer Nelson/Andrew Bynum injuries
-Phelps getting high

Tramar - Nelsons hurt, who do you think is going to take his spot? (Rip, Iggy, VC?)

Super Bowl!

So the Super Bowl is finally here...but it doesn't feel like it for some reason. Commercial spots are at a crazy, record-breaking $3 million per 30-second slot. I hope to see some good ones tomorrow. I remember the E-trade commercial with the baby from last year's super bowl, that was the best one.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals
6:00pm on NBC
Sunday, February 1st

My prediction: Pittsburgh 27 - Arizona 21

It should be a fun game with a great defense vs a great offense.

Also, the NBA All-Star game players have been announced. Check them out here: http://www.nba.com/allstar2009/players/

Who do you think got snubbed? I'm glad Granger made it. Alright, check back on Monday and I'll post up some great commercials from the game. Most of you who read my blog want Arizona to win, let's see what happens tomorrow...

My first post - let's talk All Star...

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to my blog and thanks for reading my first post! I hope you enjoy this blog and like what you read and please post your comments and vote on my polls.

Well as we all know the Super Bowl is this Sunday, February 1 at 6pm on NBC. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals. I'm still bummed that my Eagles lost to the Cards in Arizona two Sundays ago. This was the year I really thought that they were going to make it, we were like the "Cinderella Team" of the year, but I guess Arizona is considered that now. But I don't care because I want the Steelers to win. I'm glad Ward is back from injury and he is going to play, but Fitzgerald is one of the best in the game. He is becoming one of my favorite receivers.

With all this talk about the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star game has been getting much attention. The Rookie-Sophomore squads are set, and unfortunately Marreese Speights didn't make it, but Thaddeus Young made the Sophomore squad. All-Star weekend is Friday, February 13 - Sunday, February 15. You can check out the full schedule here (http://www.nba.com/allstar2009/)

Here are the All-Star game starters for the East and the West. I love Allen Iverson to death, but I don't think he should have gotten the starting nod this year. Devin Harris/Jameer Nelson are playing great at the PG position, but the East is also weak at PG's.

EAST:
G - Allen Iverson
G - Dwayne Wade
F - LeBron James
F - Kevin Garnett
C - Dwight Howard

WEST:
G - Chris Paul
G - Kobe Bryant
F - Tim Duncan
F - Amar'e Stoudamire
C - Yao Ming

Who do you think was snubbed at the starting position? I am curious to find out when they will announce the rest of the team for each side. I hope Danny Granger makes the East squad because he is having a stellar season, even though the Pacers suck.

Well that's all for now. Thanks for reading and come back soon.
